Being a Grandmother at Christmas!!!


Happy December 1st, 2013!!!

Wow, I LOVE Christmas....can you tell? Updated,  my blog with red, white, and green! Have a beautiful twinkling tree and a precious Christmas countdown clock! Yes, I do love Christmas. Some of my happiest memories growing up happened at Christmas....from the time of Santa bringing me Barbie's to the very special time that Santa FINALLY bought my Daddy a "shiny red Schwinn bike" that he had waited on since he was a little boy! I can still see my Daddy pushing it out the front door, hopping on and taking off down our street with his blue and white terry cloth bathrobe flying while showing off his "whitey-tighties"....lol!

When I became a Mother, the holiday took an even more special meaning seeing the holiday through the eyes of my children, but,now I'm a grandmother of two beautiful and wonderful grandchildren.....Kenzley who is two and a half, and Alan, who will be one on the 20th of December! My Heart swells so much just thinking of them and the pure unadulterated joy they bring to my life.

So, this morning , to kick off the wonderful month of December and approaching holiday, I thought I would share a few pictures of Kenzley and Alan:

Good Sunday Evening Everyone, Well, if you have ever visited my Pinterest boards, you know that I love Bohemian ANYTHING! The colors.....the clothes.....the furniture.....I'm an "ole hippie", what do you expect! I have seen so many things online, from clothes to jewelry, that have touched my bohemian soul, but, of course, for the most part, I can not afford to buy what I like. So, I resort to learning how to make it instead, and recently, I had seen these zip tie bracelets and just didn't think they would turn out like the pictures, but they did! Easy Peazy! You will need the large zip ties, your jewelry making tools, strips of cloth, jewelry wire and scotch tape. Yes, scotch tape! I took a zip tie and made a circle to measure the size of my wrist, but then just added a "smidgen"and then cut off the end of the zip tie and taped the circle together. I then took about a 24 inch strip of fabric and made a knot with one end around the zip tie circle and star

Everyone Loves Watermelon....Right?

Good Monday Evening Everyone, Wow, can you believe that it is already the 6th of May??? I can't.....it seems like it was just yesterday that I  moved into my new home in February! But, I'm not complaining...especially after all the rain we got last week, the Sun was out today....there was a nice breeze blowing....and I had breakfast with my 2 daughters this morning, and my 4 1/2 month old grandson! It was wonderful, and I knew Summer is on it's way! When I was growing up, one of my favorite times of the Summer was when you could see all the watermelons for sale, and my Daddy loved him some watermelon! He would go to the local little farmer's stand where all his buddies whom were farmers were selling fresh local produce. He would load up the car with watermelons and come home. We would ice them down in a cooler that morning and then he would make us go outside to play! So, the water hoses were brought out and slung over a tree branch.....water sprinklers were set

The Lady with Blue Eyes...New Folk Art Painting

Good Friday Evening Everyone, Wow, it has been an absolutely beautiful day down here in rural South Georgia in my hometown of Waycross. The Sun has been shinning most of the day.....a soft, gentle breeze has been whispering through the pines.....just an all around great day..... and what better time for me to premiere my newest, and I think my best, folk art painting. I had this idea in my head for along time....I wanted her to be a little whimsy.....slightly "hippieish".... magical....secretive.....and special. I used both acrylic and oil painting....I had an old frame in my craft closet....and decided to glue the frame to the mat. I really love her....and proudly have her hanging in my bedroom....hope you enjoy her: The Lady with Blue Eyes I had said many months ago, when I started this journey of sharing my crafts, my paintings, my jewelry that I didn't feel like I was an artist.
