Spotlighting my Whimsical Folk Art!

Image
Morning Ya'll, I hope that this Hump Day h as started off just right for you. I'm up early as usual....enjoyed a wonderful cup of Java on the front porch in my rocking chair....and wondering what to do today... As, most of you know, I recently moved into a wonderful new community....so, there has been unpacking boxes, hanging my art work, rearranging furniture to get it just right....and I now have the time to start on new paintings! Yea! So, I thought for some of my newest Followers I would go back and Spotlight some of my previous past whimsical folk art.  I've stated before, that at first when I started painting, I didn't consider myself a artist. I mean I use to couldn't draw a straight line, but, then all of a sudden while looking for whimsical art work for my home....I thought, why not create my own...and  Voila I did.....so, before I started on a new painting I thought I would share some from the past I had done. I hope you enjoy!

Living with Fibromyalgia

Image
Today is a "raining cats and dogs" kind of day here in rural Southern Georgia. It started raining during the night last night and hasn't stopped yet.....rain is supposed to fall for the next 24 hours. Flood watches are in effect from the Golden Isles of Georgia inland to, well, most of the state. As much as our land down here needs the rain for decreasing the high fire levels that we live with all the time, this rain has played havoc with my body. Living with metal in my body and lot's of it isn't always fun. When the frigid winds of Winter come a blowing, I hurt. I can feel every screw, metal plate in my body. Feel like the Tin Man needing to carry a"oil can" around.....and when the rain comes for this amount of time, well, the same thing happens. And, on top of everything else, I have Fibromyalgia! Wikipedia describes Fibromyalgia as: Fibromyalgia  ( FM  or  FMS ) is a  medical disorder  characterized by chronic widespread  pain  and  allodynia  (a

Greetings Everyone, Well, it is a rainy night here in Southern Georgia....but, really nice at the same time. I have a wonderful little front porch at my new place and I love sitting outside watching it rain. But, I'm really excited about tomorrow. As, most of you that have been Following me for awhile know that my beloved Daddy is very sick and his health is getting worse every day....although he still knows who we all are, and can still make us laugh....watching our Mom try and take care of him every day breaks my heart. We have lots of help...aids.....family members....but, seeing her as she watches her husband of almost 58 years slowly slip away...well, it is heart breaking....so, us girls...my sisters and I, with the help of brothers, brothers in law, and sons in laws....are kidnapping Mom tomorrow for a Girls Day....all the guys will watch Daddy while we the daughters,  take Mom, "junkin" and out to eat at Olive Garden.... So, in Honor of My Mom, who CAN DO ANY

I Love Old Windows!

Image
I love old vintage wooden windows! Years ago, way before I even thought about making jewelry, crafting, or teaching myself how to paint, I would go to art shows, craft shows, and I was always drawn to the booths that had paintings on old, wooden, vintage windows. I would stand and look at them and think, Oh, I wish I could do that! Or, how talented that person was....or, how I wish I could afford to buy one. Of course, the artist who had painted on these were true artists and their paintings were magnificent! But, then one day after my "crafting journey" had begun and I was slowly realizing that I did have a "talented bone in my body" I bought a old window. I had created a "cartoon character" of myself....a little short, chunky, red haired woman called Ms. Lucy....and yes, I'm short, chunky, red haired woman...lol Anyway, I decided to draw her on a window, and it turned out pretty good, if I say so myself....and now almost two years later, I've

Good Saturday Morning everyone, Well, I have no pretty crafts to show you, or a new whimsical painting...but, I do have a story of memories... So, the other night my wonderful neighbor, Ms. Flo, and I were sitting on our shared porch talking and sharing stories from our past....now, you have to understand...Ms. Flo is an elderly African American woman, and I'm a middle aged White woman....and we are sitting out there in our rocking chairs...yes, I have a rocking chair....and we are laughing and giggling like we were both little girls....and I'm sure as our neighbors looked at us, we made an unusual sight! But, let me tell you, I have found a "kindred soul sister" with her....I just adore her! Also, she was raised in an area of Florida that my Mother, Katy is from....I started out the conversation asking her if she remembered a place that my Mother had asked me to ask her about...so, she is telling me about how much the area had changed....and SOMEHOW, we got to

My Beautiful 7 Week Old Grandson!

Image
Good Tuesday Morning, Wow, what a wonderful weekend I had! As most of you know, I became a grandmother for the 2nd time in December when my oldest daughter, Brooke, had her first child and my first grandson. I was there when he was born and stayed with them for 17 days after he was born. Amazing!! So, it was with much excitement for the entire family when my daughter and husband and son all came to our home town in Georgia for the first time. It was especially exciting for my Mom and Dad as they had not been able to see him since his birth. Both of my parents, Brooke's grand parents and baby Alan's great grandparents are elderly, but, my father is disabled and can not travel anymore....so, they were waiting to see this great grandson. They arrived on Friday and stayed at my parents home until yesterday....my mother, who the great grandchildren call GG got lots of "sugar" and my father who is called GDaddy was enamoured with him. It was heart warming and sad at t

Super Easy Peasy Super Bowl Brunswick Stew!

Image
Okay, my teams aren't playing in the Super Bowl today.....I love my Falcons....the "Dirty Birds" did real good this year.....and I can't help it....I love the Saints!!! Fell in love with them when they played in the Super Bowl right after Hurricane Katrina! But, I do love me some FOOTBALL.... Soooooo, as I was sitting here this morning thinking about what I could cook to enjoy in my new little place for my 1 Super Bowl....I decided on Katy's Easy Brunswick Stew! Katy, being my Mother is the Best Cook ever, but as she has gotten older and alot of her time is taken up caring for my Daddy...she has learned and taught us new easy recipes...and one of my Favs is her Brunswick Stew.... All you need is from the meat section of the store, the little containers of the already prepared barbecue chicken and pork....use both if you like both in your Brunswick Stew. Today I used the barbecue pork. Dump that in a big pot on stove....then take one can of corn and one can o
